Times Universal Atlas of the World wins Gold award

The Times Universal Atlas of the World picked up Gold for Best Atlas and scooped the IMTA overall award for Best Product. The award was presented at the weekend's International Map Traders Association Conference and Trade Show in Belfast. “We are delighted to receive this distinguished award from IMTA. The National Library of Scotland (NLS) has just ‘gone live’ with the initial results of its project to document the records of Bartholomew map makers. The website is clear and easy to navigate, it contains many links to further material and includes fascinating images and maps. “The Bartholomew Archive is the remarkable record of the Edinburgh-based firm of map engravers, printers and publishers, John Bartholomew & Son Ltd. Maps are the top two most stolen items from UK bookshops

Times Comprehensive Atlas of the World
A recent article in the Times revealed that London A-Zs and Ordnance Survey maps are the two most stolen items from UK bookshops. The story also reveals how someone stole the biggest Times Atlas.  “The worst theft we've had was of The Times Comprehensive Atlas of the World, which was worth £100,” says Peter Donaldson, the owner of Red Lion Books in Colchester, Essex. “How someone had a big enough coat to walk out with that under it I really don't know.” Click here for full article ...
